Hello,
This week we are discussing the subject of web site backups. I have seen many web masters who have adopted the attitude that it is their hosts responsibility to take backups of there site. These webmasters have gone on fine for months or even years until their host ran into trouble. Bang; there goes there hard work in getting that site design just right, all the search engine optimization and tweaking and all the time they are losing potential customers. Their hosts don't seem to bothered and not much help at all. Hosts make mistakes too and allot more than you may think so remember and take those few extra minutes to take a back up of your site. Some hosts provide zip utilities where you can zip your files online and then download a zip of your entire site. This is so easy it is amazing that people do not do it. What steps can be taken to protect yourself? - Most hosts have backup solutions that are well worth the money. They usually provide daily tape backups for a little extra cost which hold about 10GB. These are well worth the extra cost and will save you a huge headache if the worst should happen.
