Hello,
Well this is the second newsletter to ever go out and it seems to be a great success. It this issue I though we would discuss the advantages and disadvantages of JavaScript. Some of you may be familiar with it and some may not so I will provide some background information on it too. JavaScript was written by Sun Microsystems and first appeared in December 1995 originally under the name of live script. The language of Javascript can be embedded into a HTML document to achieve many amazing effects and can add some user interactivity. It is a simple language and easy for the beginner to pick up with an online tutorial I wrote: http://www.matrix28.com/tutorials/javascript/javascript_tutorial/index.pl . With all this in mind though, you may ask could there possibly be any disadvantages? Yes there can be and it can take allot of work to overcome then. JavaScript was originally written to brighten up the web from the days of DOS browsers and text webpages nearly ten years ago. Back then it would have been easier to write and dynamic page as there were only a few browsers available and only single versions. Nowadays, there are a handful of browsers available to joe public with nearly 8 different versions for each, and each may render the JavaScript different from the next if at all. Next there is the subject of which operating system the user will be running and if they have a os specific browser running too. With all the possibilities, it becomes hell for the webmaster who is trying to write a page that will function to all his views. This can become a huge problem. JavaScript its self has evolved to keep up with the browsers and system capabilities and went from v1 to 1.1 to 1.2 to 1.3 Again creating more variations for the webmaster to cater for. In conclusion, JavaScript can be very useful and can provide very pleasing effects if it is used properly and has be fully test on most or all possibilities. http://www.Matrix28.com This week we have added many new resources and tutorials covering all aspects you may wish to read into.
